Focus Vision Care is a Staten Island eye care practice committed to serving patients and their families with the best in eye care and eye wear. Our optometrists have been practicing for a number of years and we educate all of our patients on the benefits of keeping eyes healthy and proper eye health. Our professional staff members are on hand to answer any questions you may have and to discuss your options regarding eye care and eyeglass frame and contact lens selection.

Focus Vision Care is located in Staten Island, one of the five New York City boroughs. With a 2014 Census-estimated population of 473,279, Staten Island is the least populated of the boroughs but is the third-largest in area at 58 sq mi (150 km2).  It is home to many artists and musicians who commute into Manhattan, and several filmmakers live there as well. The island is also home to the Staten Island Zoo and a variety of museums. Motor traffic can reach the borough from Brooklyn via the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and from New Jersey via the Outerbridge Crossing, Goethals Bridge, and Bayonne Bridge. Staten Island is the only borough that is not connected to the New York City Subway system. The free Staten Island Ferry connects the borough to Manhattan and is a popular tourist attraction, providing views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Lower Manhattan. (Source: Wikipedia)

Our services include comprehensive eye exams, contact lens exams and fittings, prescription sunglasses and regular glasses, and treatment of eye diseases and eye conditions. Having regular eye exams helps keep eyes healthy and to prevent disease. Diseases such as glaucoma can come on slowly and without warning, which is why annual exams that can help catch these diseases early on provide a better chance for treatment before any vision loss occurs. During our exams with our Staten Island optometrist, we do a refraction, and may check your eyes using a slit lamp or dilation procedure. We also check for intraocular pressure, which can indicate the presence of glaucoma, and will do a full retinal exam.

Another eye condition that can happen with age and illness is diabetic retinopathy. This disorder affects the retina, the lining in the back of the eye. Diabetes can affect the vasculature of the retina and result in vision loss and blindness if it is not treated. Along with these eye conditions, our Staten Island optometrist also provides pediatric eye care. We know how important it is for young children to have annual eye exams and to have healthy eyes. We want to promote and treat good vision so that your child can excel in school and engage in a healthy learning environment.
